Dark Ice, Golden Reflections №1 – Iceland Framing Options:UnframedArtwork Information Iceland's glacier landscapes are among my favorite photographic subjects and I find the very dark and almost black ice particularly fascinating, which is quite rare compared to the typical blue ice. On this rather sunny day, the sun hit the ice at the front of Breiamerkurjkull (outlet glacier of Vatnajkull) in an exciting way, its golden reflections immediately captivating me. The appearance changed with every inch I moved with my

creating striking patterns that shift with each tidal cycle

and mineral-laden sediments contribute to the yellow hue

and salt shape these ice fragments into temporary forms scattered across the black sand

forming ever-changing patterns shaped by nature’s flow

This creates a lattice structure of ice crystals

Geothermal features release sulphur compounds

The unyielding light of the sun reflects off the snow and ice

These photographs reflect a quiet moment of observation
